Literature Text
found a photograph of your shoulders in the rain
carved tears into a pumpkin
called your mother: said she hasn't heard your sweet voice in years
dropped 3 pieces of candy but ate them anyway
wrote my first song on guitar and got blisters on every finger
popped them all
picked flowers for my dog and then watched her eat them
wrote you a poem you won't read-
lists of things i used to tell you but now
find myself whispering to my puppy,
who cannot even remember her own name.
-
where have you been and
what have you been doing and
where are you going?
i am lost but so are you
and we used to pick flowers together and
we used to take photographs of each others shoulders and
call our mothers once a week to tell them
how happy we were.
i am lost but so are you
because we lost each other but
i lost you first-
you left with the rain that august and
left me caught in a drought,
both figuratively and literally.
-
we are little kids lost in a desert
and we are bone dry.

Literature
we have the softest heartbeats
i don't know what it means when you say
you don't know what i mean.
the implications of my every sentence stain the
atmosphere like neon lights and i'm left wondering
how you can still be so clueless. how after
all this time. after all the sentences we traded
with each other. after every minute that makes
the miles smaller. you still don't get it. how
you could still not get me.
this is the part where i need to remind myself
that you were never mine.
you've never been anyone's because there isn't
a sentence simple enough to make you stay so
three words and eight letters won't leave you
breathless in between my bed sheet
Literature
nine reasons why you should
nine reasons why you should never love a poet:
one.
we like to hear things like 'you're beautiful' and
'i'd die without you' but deep inside we always know
you don't mean it.
and it just tears us apart slowly, no matter how much
we love those poisonous lies.
two.
and when you ask 'are you okay?', we're going to
answer with 'i'm fine'. and you'll hear that
even if our bones are shattering inside of us and
our hands are trembling from all the hurt that we go through.
three.
because we play our music too-loud-to-bear so that,
when we're all alone,
it chases away the thoughts that come with the silence:
things that haun
Literature
not everything is beautiful
so here's the thing:
you're not you
and i'm not me
and we're not us.
and all i know is that this
is heartbreak in the worse way
since right now
i know i can't have you
but ohdeargod please
i really do want you.
and maybe everything
is a circle so i'll get you
or will be okay since life goes onandonandon
or is about to completely destroy me
or is just...done with. complete. over.
but one thing i know
is that it is november
and i am so so sick
of saying goodbye
to things i love.
but it's true that
everything good
has an ending
and this is mine.
